Improve certification standards, strengthen policy guidance, and promote the physical quality of steel to reach the international advanced level. Revise relevant design specifications, eliminate hot-rolled ribbed steel bars with a strength of 335 MPa and below, accelerate the use of steel bars with a strength of 400 MPa and above, and promote the upgrading of construction steel.

The average price of imported steel is more than 40% higher than that of exported steel.
Experts said that product quality is the most important factor in steel imports, especially some metal products are mainly used in machinery, electronics and automobile manufacturing. End users have very strict requirements on the quality of these products, such as product stability, strength, and heat resistance., Wear resistance and other aspects of testing are harsh. In order to avoid the serious consequences of product quality defects, steel processing enterprises have to use high-priced imported steel.
Industry insiders pointed out that in recent years, my country's domestic steel production and processing technology has made significant progress. Many products that could not be produced and relied on imports can now be produced, and the product quality has gradually been recognized by domestic and foreign users. However, due to the relatively prosperous steel market in recent years, steel companies often only pursue output, and do not pay much attention to product quality and production technology innovation and development, even for products in short supply in the market, more imitation, rather than development. In addition, iron and steel enterprises in developed countries are becoming more and more cautious in the transfer of technology and equipment, and keep key equipment and technology very confidential. In the current imported steel, there are still 50% of the share is due to the domestic steel enterprises temporarily difficult to produce, or lack of production capacity.
Zhang Xiaogang, president of the China Iron and Steel Association and general manager of Anshan Iron and Steel Group, said that while the financial crisis has affected Chinese companies, it has also brought opportunities for the development of China's steel industry. The development of my country's steel industry should no longer focus on scale expansion, but on improving quality and adjusting structure, including the adjustment of layout, products, and organizational structure. At the same time, the new production capacity should be combined with the elimination of backward production capacity, especially to strengthen the elimination of backward production capacity, and to produce high-quality steel needed by world-class enterprises such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
"At present, nearly half of China's total steel imports are temporarily difficult to produce domestically, and difficult to replace in a short period of time.
